    Storage

Supplied in 10 mM sodium HEPES (pH 7.5), 150 mM NaCl, 100 µg/mL BSA, 50% glycerol, and less than 0.02% sodium azide. Store at –20°C. Do not aliquot the antibody.

    Protocol

    Specificity / Sensitivity

ICAM-5 (F8V5B) Rabbit mAb recognizes endogenous levels of total ICAM-5 protein. Non-specific staining was observed in mouse pancreas and small intestine by immunohistochemistry.

    Species Reactivity:

    Human, Mouse

    Source / Purification

Monoclonal antibody is produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues surrounding Pro40 of human ICAM-5 protein.

    Background

Intercellular adhesion molecule-5 (ICAM-5), also known as telencephalin, is a type I membrane glycoprotein expressed on the surface of telencephalic neurons in the brain that plays a role in neuronal adhesion, signal transmission, and neurite outgrowth (1). ICAM-5 contains nine immunoglobulin-like domains in its extracellular region, which interact with integrins and ERM-family proteins, facilitating the formation of functional synapses and dendritic filopodia, respectively (2,3). This extracellular region has also been shown to be cleaved, forming a soluble ICAM-5 fragment implicated in the immune system, potentially playing a neuroprotective role in neurodegeneration (4-6).
